British Columbia
There are no special provincial regulations governing franchising in British Columbia. However, general regulations and by-laws affecting most businesses apply.
Canada
In Canada, there is no federal legislation directed specifically at franchising. However, other legislation exists that may affect the structuring and operation of a franchised business. Examples include the Income Tax Act, the Competition Act, the Investment Canada Act, the Food and Drugs Act, the Trade Marks Act and the Consumer Packaging and Labeling Act.
