Industry Training Association

The ITA has two programs designed for entry into the plumbing trade:
- The Plumber Red Seal Program
- and the Plumber Foundation Program.

Training is delivered through certain certified schools and/or certification exams may be challenged by those with appropriate apprenticeship experience.

Certification through the ITA is required to legally work as a plumber in BC.

BC Building Code; Water Conservation Plumbing Regulation:

The Building and Safety Policy Branch of the Office of Houding and Construction Standards has developed the Water Conservation Plumbing Regulation that is integrated into the BC Building Code. This Regulation places restrictions on water flow rates and water consumption in different areas of BC.

The Plumbing Services Section of the BC Building Code specifies the standards for plumbing in buildings.
