Legal Profession Act:

This Act provides the legal framework for those persons permitted to practice as barristers and solicitors in the province of British Columbia. Under this Act, powers are granted to the Law Society of British Columbia to govern the qualifications, conduct and practice required of barristers and solicitors in British Columbia.

The Law Society of BC is the self-governing body for lawyers in BC. The primary responsibility of the Law Society under the provincial Act is to protect the public interest in the administration of justice.
