The Embassy of Canada to Chile
Welcome to the Canadian Trade Commissioner Service in Santiago.
As a part of Canada's international business development network, the Canadian Trade Commissioner Service in Chile delivers quality services to its clients and advances Canadian commercial, economic and related policy interests.
We do this by cultivating and developing contacts, proactively gathering specific intelligence and identifying trends, taking into account the high level of Canadian investment, the bilateral free trade agreement and Chile's commitment to increasing R&D in S&T.
The cornerstone of Canada's trade and economic relationship with Chile is the Canada-Chile Free Trade Agreement (CCFTA), which entered into force in July 1997. Canadian exporters of almost all industrial and agricultural products enjoy virtually duty-free access to the Chilean market. The CCFTA is complemented by numerous bilateral agreements, including Cooperation Agreements on Labour and the Environment, and the 2000 Double Taxation Agreement, amongst others.
