Getting to Know Our Polar Regions: International Polar Year 2007-2008

Photo: Arvids Silis © Environment Canada, 2006.International Polar Year (IPY) 2007-2008 is an intensive burst of internationally coordinated, interdisciplinary, scientific research and observations focused on the polar regions. It is the first initiative of its kind in 50 years and is only the fourth such global scientific undertaking since the first in 1882.

All Ways of Knowing through the Northern Ecosystem Initiative

The NEI was established by Environment Canada in 1998 to address issues that are emerging in the North as the climate changes and as resource development increases.
