Summary

The Fishery (General) Regulations provide the general administrative provisions and offences applicable to fishers, including:

  • variation of close times, or quotas;
  • expiration and use of licenses and registrations;
  • fishing vessel and fishing gear marking requirements;
  • conditions attached to fishing licenses;
  • suspension or cancellation of a license;
  • assistance for persons enforcing the Act;
  • observers on board fishing vessels;
  • licenses for experimental, scientific and educational purposes;
  • authorization for work that may disrupt or destroy fish habitats;
  • incorporation of other regulations; and
  • offences for obstructing the mesh of fishing nets, dumping or wasting fish, selling fish not taken under a commercial license and fishing in fish hatcheries and rearing or holding facilities operated by government.
