Environmental innovation is key to overcoming complex environmental problems such as loss of habitat and biodiversity, climate change and air and water pollution. We need to find ways to use fewer resources, protect endangered species, produce goods and materials that are sustainable and make these new ways of thinking part of our daily lives.

Go Green environmental innovation programs include:

  1. Green Technology Commercialization Grant - Funding to help small and medium sized businesses overcome barriers to the commercialization of their green technologies.

  2. Saskatchewan Biofuels Investments Opportunity Program (SaskBIO) - The SaskBIO program was created to provide an opportunity for farmers and communities to participate in value-added biofuel production in Saskatchewan through investment ownership in biofuels facilities. The program will ensure that Saskatchewan is an attractive jurisdiction in which to build a sustainable biofuels industry.

  3. Petroleum Technology Research Centre (PRTC) - The Government of Saskatchewan is providing funding to the PTRC to support the development of modeling and assessment capacity related to Enhanced Oil Recovery and Geological Storage of CO2. Phase 1 operated between 2000 and 2004. The second and final phase is expected to include a second Enhanced Oil Recovery project operated by Apache at Midale.

  4. Raum Energy - Raum Energy received a grant from the Ministry of Environment through the Green Initiatives Fund to commercialize their newly developed 1.3MW Wind Turbine System and inverter. This new wind turbine technology is designed to be a cost effective and easy to install.

  5. Green Roof - Strathdee Building in Regina, SK - The University of Regina received a grant from the Ministry of Environment through the Green Initiatives Fund to install a demonstration green roof on the Strathdee Building and measure the effects of installing the green roof.
