![]() Who Knew? Fire Prevention Week was established to commemorate the Great Chicago Fire of October 8 & 9, 1871, which tragically killed more than 250 people. Protection and Emergency Services Events Fire Prevention Week 2007Fire Prevention Week is dedicated to educating the public about the importance of fire safety. Fire Prevention Week resource material is available free on-line from both Fire Prevention Canada and from the National Fire Protection Association. Resources include media materials, graphics, how-to guides for the fire service, lesson plans for teachers, and activities for kids and families.
Practice Your Escape Plan is this year's theme. Most fires and related deaths and injuries are predictable and preventable. During Fire Prevention Week October 7 - 13, 2007, fire fighters across Saskatchewan will be telling people that when it comes to escape plans, practice is key.
