Functions
  • provides policy advice on criminal law issues, representation on national committees and implementation co-ordination and training support on criminal law changes;
  • provides policy advice and co-ordination on family law issues, including representation on national and interdepartmental committees, as well as, co-ordination and training support for federal and provincial family law changes;
  • represents the government of Saskatchewan as Central Authority on International Child Abductions;
  • provides policy advice on youth justice issues, including representation on national and interdepartmental committees, as well as, co-ordination and training support on youth justice law changes;
  • provides policy advice on aboriginal justice issues, including representation on national and interdepartmental committees;
  • develops, designs and supports program review and evaluation for departmental programs;
  • represents the department on a range of committees at the interdepartmental and national level dealing with issues that affect justice;
  • supports effective use of information and research through co-ordination of departmental libraries, providing support to the departmental and national analysis and collection of statistical and research information on the justice system;
  • provides support to the departmental strategic planning and performance managing activities.
