What does the Pensions Division do?
The Division administers The
Pension Benefits Act, 1992. The Act:
- provides minimum benefit standards for the rules of all
plans. The legislation sets standards with respect to vesting, survivor benefits,
locking-in and portability;
- ensures sound business practices. The Act has extensive
disclosure requirements, establishes the duties of a plan administrator and sets
investments standards;
- provides standards for the funding of pension plans.
