Planning Ahead

Have you ever been in a situation where you didn't plan ahead for a left turn and found yourself holding up traffic and creating a hazardous situation?

Driving experts say a good driver is always looking down the road and planning ahead. Anticipating the traffic situation ahead of you can make your trip safer and a lot less frustrating.

For example, when you're approaching a left-turn lane, after changing into the appropriate lane well ahead of time, enter the left turn lane immediately--don’t wait until you approach the intersection.

It's also a good idea to look down the road for parked cars, and change lanes early. Drivers who wait too long in this situation sometimes end up cutting off another vehicle, or wasting time in the parking lane.

If you don't plan ahead for lanes that end, who knows how long you'll be waiting.... and waiting.... and waiting.
