Interns - Northern Graduate Employment Programs

Are you currently a northern student in a post-secondary certificate, diploma or degree program? Are you graduating in 2008? Will you be looking for work in the NWT?

The GNWT is committed to helping northern graduates find work experience related to their field of study. To help begin your post-secondary career, the GNWT offers a number of Internship programs available to northern graduates.

In addition to gaining valuable experience in your field of study, these programs offer a competative salary, benefits and opportunity for advancement.

Northern Graduates

The Northern Graduate Employment Programs are only available to northern graduates. A northern graduate is a person who:

  • Was a Territorial resident for at least three continuous years immediately prior to graduating from post-secondary institutions located in the NWT and who remained and resided in the NWT following graduation from the institution; or
  • Attended a post-secondary institution located outside the NWT, but resided in the NWT for at least twelve continuous months immediately prior to attending the post-secondary institute.

    Note:
    The above would exclude disabled individuals who were attending specialized facilities outside the NWT immediately prior to attending a post-secondary institution. Special consideration would be given to these situations.

The GNWT has five Northern Graduate Employment Programs:

Before you can start employment (i.e. sign a job offer), you must provide confirmation from the educational institution that you have completed the course work necessary for your diploma/degree.
