With a population of over 3,600, Hay River is a fast-growing community on the south shore of Great Slave Lake in Canada's southern Northwest Territories (view Maps). Located in the midst of the great white north, it is a dynamic and scenic community, with a great variety of sights, services and adventures awaiting the visiting traveller - all year round.
As the Hub of the North, we built our reputation on our advantageous location in relation to the Western Arctic communities. The town is the connecting point between road, rail, water and air transportation networks in the north and south. Hay River has had a long history as a supply route for the north and continues to maintain that tradition in our transportation industries.
