How do I get to the airport from the city centre?
The Yellowknife Airport is a short drive from the City Centre. You can go down Franklin (50 Avenue), turn on to Old Airport Road, and follow it to the junction of Hwy 3, where you turn left until you reach the airport. Or you can go down 48th Street, past the Explorer Hotel, on to the Ingraham Trail, and turn left onto Hwy 3 until you reach the airport. See map at the bottom of the page.

How early should I arrive? Do I need to go through security?
Each airline has its own rules on when you need to arrive for a scheduled flight, so please consult with your airline to know when to arrive for your flight. Passengers who are travelling from Yellowknife on a direct flight to a location in Manitoba, Alberta, or B.C. must go through pre-flight screening. Those who are travelling from another northern location on a flight that ends in Alberta or Manitoba must leave their aircraft in Yellowknife for pre-flight security screening. Please leave plenty of time to go through security screening.

What arrangements for parking are there at the airport? How much does it cost?
Parking is available on a pay-as-you-go basis at the Yellowknife Airport terminal. The rates are:
First Hour - No Charge
$1 per hour to a max of $10 per day (24 hour period)
$10 per day (24 hour period) to a max of $50 per week
$50 per week to a max of $150 per month.
If you are departing from another location on the airport property such as at a charter company's hangar, please consult that company with regard to the availability of parking at that location.
