The NWT Drivers Licence has a new format to make it a more secure identification card. Some of the new security features are:

You also have the option now of obtaining a Drivers Licence with terms of one, three or five years.
The Process

Go to one of the NWT Driver and Vehicle Licensing Issuing Offices to renew or apply for a Drivers Licence

The TDL you receive at that time can be used to drive until you receive the final licence by mail in two to four weeks.

Wait for your Drivers Licence to arrive in the mail – the card will be mailed directly to you.
