NB 551

April 27, 2008

FREDERICTON (CNB) - The following is released by the Department of Transportation and the Department of Public Safety's New Brunswick Emergency Measures Organization on Sunday, April 27, 2008.

The department is continuing to advise drivers in low-lying areas of the province to be on alert for water over roads, including these areas. The department is making every effort to sign or barricade roads where there is a risk to motorists. However, water levels can increase quickly, and drivers should use appropriate caution whenever they encounter water over the road. Motorists should also be alert for wildlife on the road.

Motorists are reminded that as water conditions change, they should check with roadblock personnel or call the command post at 506-357-3211.

Motorists wishing to report water over the road should call 1-800-561-4063.

A list of traffic advisories may be found on the Department of Transportation website at: http://www1.gnb.ca/cnb/transportation/index-e.asp.
