Update / Road restrictions continue (08/04/28)

FREDERICTON (CNB) - The following is released by the Department of Transportation and the Department of Public Safety's New Brunswick Emergency Measures Organization on Monday, April 28, 2008.

• Route 105, Maugerville area: restrictions remain in effect. Residents who have a pass will not be permitted entry unless they are driving at least a half-ton truck.
• Until further notice, a vehicle curfew will be in effect from 9 p.m. each evening until 6 a.m. the following morning. This curfew also applies to Route 690 from McGowan's Corner to Lakeville Corner.
• At Darlings Island, the road access is 50 per cent water-covered.
• Rusagonis Road from Route 655 intersection to the Sunpoke Road intersection remains closed.
• The Gagetown ferry remains closed.
• Officials advise that garbage collection along Route 105 from Maugerville to Jemseg will be suspended for the next week. Residents should ensure that all garbage is in a secure container and location.

The department is continuing to advise drivers in low-lying areas of the province to be on alert for water over roads, including these areas. The department is making every effort to sign or barricade roads where there is a risk to motorists. However, water levels can increase quickly, and drivers should use appropriate caution whenever they encounter water over the road. Motorists should also be on the alert for wildlife on the road.

As water conditions change, motorists should check with roadblock personnel, or call the command post at 506-357-3211.
