"The programme offers technical assistance, carries out training, provides grants for projects, organizes awareness rising campaigns and encourages exchange of experiences.
The programme started in Macedonia in 2000, initiated by the King Baudouin Foundation (KBF) from Belgium. Later, it was extended to Bulgaria, Romania and Bosnia & Herzegovina. So far, 31 projects have been supported in Macedonia with budget of $ 540.000 (for the 2000-2005), donated by the Foundation Open Society Institute – Macedonia (FOSIM) and the KBF. At the beginning of 2004, the project teams established the Living Heritage Network, aiming to affirm the programme, the projects and the local communities involved, to exchange experiences and knowledge and to cooperate in various fields of common interest."
