Wage Subsidies

Apprenticeship

For a person who want to be a certified trade journeyperson, apprenticeship training offers paid on-the-job learning and sponsored technical training. An employer pays an apprentice an incremental, industry-established wage while learning on the job. The Apprenticeship Branch sponsors an apprentice's technical training at school.

Manitoba Mentorships

Under Manitoba Mentorships, employers are eligible to receive a wage incentive to assist in the creation of new positions. Employers who are able to provide an average of 8 to 16 hours per week of part-time career-related employment experiences during the school term are eligible to receive wage incentives for up to 200 hours of employment.

Hometown Green Team

Encourages rural communities to initiate projects that will result in benefits to the local community.

Senior Years Apprenticeship Option

The Senior Years Apprenticeship Option links Senior Years students still in school with employers who own trade-related businesses and can train promising young workers part-time employment. Employers hiring Senior Years apprentices may be eligible for a student wage subsidy through the government's Career Focus Program.

Urban Green Team

Creates meaningful and career-oriented summer employment for youth (Winnipeg non-profits only).
