NB 528

April 24, 2008

FREDERICTON (CNB) - A Fredericton-area well-drilling company has been charged in Fredericton provincial court with two violations of the Clean Water Act.

The Department of Environment alleges that between Sept. 26, 2006, and March 13, 2007, Capital Well Drillers Ltd., 705 Clements Dr., Fredericton, failed to submit required well-drillers reports to the minister of environment within 30 days of having drilled a well.

The department further alleges that between the same dates the company failed to pay the fee prescribed by regulation for the testing of water from a new well.

The company is scheduled to make its first appearance in court on May 5.

Environment Minister Roland Haché encourages all New Brunswickers to be responsible stewards of the environment, and to report any infraction of environmental regulations in the province.
