Studies & Reports 72 of 73
"The 1992 Brokensha and Guldberg report, Cultural Tourism in Australia, which was commissioned by the Department of the Arts, Sport, the Environment and Territories, examined indigenous Australians' experiences with the tourism sector, and it concluded that 'by far the most important avenue of Aboriginal involvement in the tourist industry is through the production of arts and crafts' and that 'the study agrees with the conclusions of the Review Committee that this Aboriginal arts and crafts industry is a fragile one under threat from a range of external pressures and that it will require special structural and financial arrangements to ensure its survival. The Review Committee recommended the setting up of a Aboriginal Arts and Crafts Support Unit which is strongly supported'."
