As tourist numbers continue to rise and interest in culture, both past and present, continues to grow, cultural tourism is in an excellent position for growth in the coming years. Accordingly, Canada presents great opportunities in terms of providing cultural and heritage experiences.
Indeed, the Travel Activities and Motivations Survey shows that 30% of all visitors to Canada take part in cultural activities during a trip.
According to the CTC, growth opportunities will be considerable during the next two decades, in part because cultural activities appeal more to Canada’s aging population.
More information can be found in Facts, Quotes and Statistics, June 2005, from the Tourism Policy Directorate, Department of Canadian Heritage.
