New Important Information: Professional Arts Festivals 2008-2009

General Program Objective

Arts Presentation Canada gives Canadians direct access to a variety of quality artistic experiences through financial assistance to arts presenters or the organizations that support them. The outcome will be that Canadians will have more access to artists’ work from all regions of Canada that reflect its rich cultural diversity. Canadian communities of all backgrounds will have the opportunity to participate in and benefit from the broadest possible range of artistic experiences.

Who can apply?

Canadian, non-profit organizations incorporated under Part II of the Canada Corporations Act (or under corresponding provincial or territorial legislation) that present, in a professional manner, artistic experiences originating from more than one province or territory; or with a core focus on strengthening arts presentation in Canada. Provincial, territorial or municipal institutions (including educational institutions that organize presentation activities for the public), as well as similar institutions or organizations of Status or Non-Status Indians, Inuit and Métis are also eligible.

Summary of program activities

Launched May 2nd 2001, Arts Presentation Canada has thus far financially contributed to more than 1000 events or season presenters of live professional performances and other similar activities in more than 224 cities or communities in 2001-2002, 2002-2003, 2003-2004, 2004-2005, 2005-2006 and 2006-2007.

APC Components

The Program has two components:

  • the Programming Component for existing arts presenter organizations, arts festivals, and presenter support organizations;

  • the Development Component to support the emergence of arts presenters and support organizations for under-served communities or artistic practices. (Please contact your regional office for further details on the Development Component application).

Applicants cannot apply to both components in the same year.

Deadlines

For Presenter Organizations and Arts Festivals:
There are two application deadlines for Arts Presentation Canada:  April 30 and September 30.

Applicants with activities starting between April 1, 2008 and June 30, 2008 must apply by the April 30, 2007 deadline.

All other applicants must contact their Regional Office to determine which deadline is most appropriate for their organization.

For Presenter Support Organizations:
There is one deadline for Arts Presentation Canada: April 30, 2007.

Organizations are required to submit their application on the appropriate forms.  The applications forms are available in print and in electronic format from Canadian Heritage offices.  They can also be downloaded in one of the following formats (right click on the mouse and select save option):
