Community Education & College Relations
Community Education

The Division of Community Education and College Relations services the outreach function of the college through the delivery of non-credit educational programs and facilitating the college's public relations function.

Throughout the year approximately 4000 citizens enroll in a variety of courses, workshops, and seminars specifically designed to meet the personal and professional development needs of the west coast region. The variety of offerings range from computer, language, and management training sessions to swimming lessons, fitness classes, and workshops in the visual and performing arts. Certificates of participation are awarded upon completion of programs which emphasize the acquisition of specific skills.

The college relations functions incorporate the public relations role as well as those auxiliary operations which offer service to the community at large. Informing the public of the college's programs and activities is facilitated through the preparation and distribution of news releases, public service announcements, and organizing media coverage and referrals. The Division is also responsible for the development of college publications and promotional materials including those in written, electronic, or video format. Other activities of the department include conference operations, non-academic tours, facility bookings, management of the aquatics and athletics wings, teleconferences, and organizing the college's annual convocation ceremony.
