Welcome

Hello and a warm welcome from Human Resources at Memorial University of Newfoundland, one of the best places to work in the world.

It is my pleasure to introduce you to our role within the University community. We work in all kinds of ways to ensure our people practices are congruent with the University's mission, vision, and culture. Our intent is to create and sustain partnerships that enable Memorial to achieve its vision through innovation and supportive people practices.

HR touches the lives of all employees at Memorial - from the recruiting and orientation process until they leave, and all the steps in between. We care. We share the joy and sorrow of life's journey. We enjoy and encourage humour - laughter is part of being well. We feel empathy for those who are struggling with illness and loss.

We take great care with our responsibilities, and dedicate time, energy and creativity and financial resources to ensuring Memorial, as a workplace, is healthy and sustains the need for learning, challenge, and civility. Our staff members are committed to supportive people practices and work thoughtfully and respectfully in every situation to provide information and support, and to find sustainable solutions.

Through various units of HR, we provide services to staff and faculty members in a friendly and professional manner. While some units spend more time with individual employees and others work more closely with administrators, we recognize and believe that our role sustains all faculty and staff members. We believe in the capacity, development, and potential of individual human beings, as well as when they come together in organized and informal groups.
