Steve Paikin (from TVO, not a consortium station) has been chosen as the English language debate moderator. See the press release here. You can reach Steve Paikin by email at spaikin@tvo.org to encourage him to publicly refuse to moderate an undemocratic debate that does not include the Greens. TVO is a public network that delivers highly intelligent programming, including Mr. Paikin's show ("The Agenda"), and neither he nor the network should contribute to such a travesty of electoral justice.

Today, Chris Tindal's campaign office in Toronto Centre was home to volunteers from Barrie, Ottawa, Kitchener-Waterloo, St. Paul's, Beaches--East York, Etobicoke--Lakeshore, and the Ryerson Greens.

The town of Oakville has started down the (rail)road towards a vibrant, transit-centric core area, at the GO/VIA station and surrounding parking and industrial lands! This is a great move, which is just the kind of Green development (when done right) that could help people in suburban areas finally break their automobile addiction. Kudos to Oakville Mayor Rob Burton and his staff for this direction.

The current by-elections in Toronto Centre have again impressed upon me the dysfunctional and unhelpful nature of our current electoral system. Essentially, members of the Liberal Party of Canada are forced to make a very strange request: "Hey, people of Toronto Centre, we really like this Bob guy, and it would be super swell if he could sit with us Liberals in Parliament, so could we count on ya to go ahead and send him along? Do ya mind?" Electors are not Vote Mules.
