Saint Boniface, Manitoba
The riding of Saint Boniface has long been considered a Liberal stronghold. Since 1925 the Liberals have won twenty-three elections out of the twenty-six held. Raymond Simard is the Liberal incumbent, who was elected to the House of Commons in a 2002 by-election. The Conservative candidate is police officer Shelley Glover. Glover has served on the police force for eighteen years and this is her first time running. The NDP candidate is Matt Schaubroeck and he is one of the youngest people running in this federal election. Marc Payette is the Green Party candidate and this is his second federal campaign in this riding. The Hill Times recently wrote that Saint Boniface is one of the fifty-seven ridings that can change the election outcome.

Elmwood-Transcona, Manitoba
The riding of Elmwood-Transcona, in the northeast end of Winnipeg, has been held by the New Democratic Party (NDP) since 1979, making this one of the safest NDP ridings in the country. After winning nine consecutive elections, Bill Blakie is retiring. NDP candidate Jim Maloway has held this seat provincially for the NDP for more than twenty years and is trying his hardest to make sure the riding remains NDP. The Conservatives are hoping to take this riding away from the NDP with political newcomer Thomas Steen, a former NHL hockey player who played for the now defunct Winnipeg Jets. The Liberals have chosen entrepreneur Wes Penner to represent them in this riding and this is his fourth federal election running as a candidate. Educator and environmentalist Chris Hrynkow is the Green Party of Canada candidate.

Saturday, October 18 at 1AM ET / Friday, October 17 at 10PM PT

Fredericton, New Brunswick
The riding of Fredericton was one of the safest Conservative seats in the country until Andy Scott won the riding for the Liberals in 1993. For the next four elections, Scott kept the seat Liberal red, winning each contest convincingly. Andy Scott has now retired and it's now up to his successor, David Innes, to keep the riding from turning Tory blue. Keith Ashfield is the Conservative hope for this seat. Jesse Travis is the NDP candidate and the Green Party is represented by Mary Lou Babineau.

Nunavut
Kim Brunhuber travels to Nunavut, where he learns the issues of the northernmost riding, as well as the difficulties in running a successful campaign in a land that stretches across three time zones, and where travel can be difficult. Kim follows the NDP candidate Paul Irngaut while he campaigns across Canada's largest riding.

Saturday, October 18 at 3AM ET / 12 midnight PT

Thornhill, Ontario
Kim Brunhuber visits the riding of Thornhill, where the four major parties are all represented. Liberal incumbent Susan Kadis looks to be re-elected for a second time in a riding that has yet to elect a non-liberal candidate. Conservative candidate Peter Kent is hoping that his broadcasting career has brought him familiarity with voters. A member of the Green Party for over three years, candidate Norbert Koehl won the nomination contest over the previous election's Green Party candidate to earn his first spot on the ballot, while NDP candidate and president of the Thornhill NDP riding association, Simon Strlchik gets his second chance to represent Thornhill in Ottawa.

Friday, October 17 at 3PM ET / 12 noon PT
Saturday, October 18 at 6AM ET / 3AM PT

Guelph, Ontario
CPAC'S Martin Stringer visited the riding of Guelph to profile the main candidates and the issues in this Southern Ontario riding formerly held by the Liberal Brenda Chamberlain. The riding is being contested by Gloria Kovach of the Conservative Party, Frank Valeriote of the Liberal Party, Tom King for the New Democrats and Mike Nagy of the Green Party.

Sunday, October 19 at 6AM ET / 3AM PT

Huron-Bruce, Ontario
In the 2006 federal election, the Liberal incumbent in the Ontario riding of Huron-Bruce squeaked by the Conservatives. This time around, Liberal MP Paul Steckle's name is not on the ballot. But the name of his executive assistant, Greg McClinchey, is. So, is this the race Conservative Ben Lobb has a real chance of winning? Martin Stringer tours this scenic riding on the shores of Lake Huron where issues such as agriculture, health care, and economic development have deep roots.

Friday, October 17 at 5PM ET / 2PM PT
Saturday, October 18 at 9PM ET / 6PM PT

Vancouver Island North, British Columbia
For the last two elections, no race has been closer than that of Vancouver Island North. Currently held by the NDP’s Catherine Bell, the Conservatives under John Duncan think they can take this riding back. Duncan having first won the seat in 1997 and holding on to it until he lost to Bell in 2006 by only 630 votes. The Liberals are represented by Geoff Fleischer and Philip Stone is the Green Party candidate.

Friday, October 17 at 6PM ET / 3PM PT
Sunday, October 19 at 7AM ET / 4AM PT

Ahuntsic, Quebec
Martin Stringer profiles the bustling Quebec riding of Ahuntsic, on the island of Montreal. Bloc Québécois incumbent, Maria Mourani took this seat last election from Liberal Eleni Bakopanos. Both names are back on the ballot, along with Conservative Jean Précourt and New Democrat Alexandra Bélec. It's a swing riding with a huge ethnic population that will play a significant role in the vote.

Saturday, October 18 at 8PM ET / 5PM PT

Surrey North, British Columbia
Ed Watson reports on the riding of Surrey North, where the Conservatives have recruited Dona Cadman, spouse of former Reform MP Chuck Cadman, to bring the riding into the Conservative fold. The NDP won this riding handily in 2006 with former provincial cabinet minister, Penny Priddy. However, Priddy has since retired and the riding is no longer an easy NDP victory. The Conservatives believe that Dona Cadman may be able to tap into the strong allegiance her husband developed with voters, and was proven when he ran as an independent in 2004 and won. This working class, socially conservative riding, has Racid Arab running as the NDP candidate; and Marc Muhammad, as the Liberal.

Sunday, October 19 at 9AM ET / 6AM PT

Desnethé-Missinippi-Churchill River, Saskatchewan
Jonathan Craven visits the vast northern Saskatchewan riding of Desnethé-Missinippi-Churchill River. Running for the Liberals is David Orchard, an organic farmer who ran twice for the leadership of the Progressive Conservative Party. Orchard planned on running in the March by-election here but controversy followed when Joan Beatty, a high profile MLA was parachuted into the riding by Stephan Dion. Beatty lost to former RCMP Sergeant Rob Clarke, who has represented the riding for the Conservatives since the March by-election. Brian Morin, Deputy Mayor and Deputy Fire Chief of Buffalo Narrows is the NDP candidate and he also ran in the by-election. New to the race is the Green Party candidate George Morin. Another newcomer is Rob Ballantyne running for the First People’s National Party of Canada.

Saturday, October 18 at 3PM ET / 12PM PT
Monday, October 20 at 2AM ET / Sunday, October 19 at 11PM PT

St. Catharines, Ontario
Kim Brunhuber visits the riding of St. Catharines, where the previous election was won by a mere 244 votes. Conservative candidate and incumbent Rick Dykstra is looking to only hold on to his seat, but also increase the vote differential. Liberal candidate and former MP for the riding, Walt Lastewka hopes to regain the seat that he narrowly lost in the previous election. Jim Fannon of the Green party is taking part in his third federal election, while NDP candidate George Addison and Communist Party candidate Sam Hammond throw their hats in the race for the first time.

Saturday, October 18 at 4PM ET / 1PM PT

Trois-Rivières, Québec
Before Conservative numbers began to fall in Québec, it was widely speculated that the riding of Trois-Rivières would have been one of the many Québec ridings to turn blue. The incumbent is Bloquiste Paule Brunelle, who was first elected in 2004 with a 12,000 vote plurality and saw that margin drop by almost half in 2006. The Conservatives recruited a star candidate, former business executive, Claude Durand, to win the seat; but the national campaign has hurt her chances. Geneviève Boivin, a social worker, is the NDP candidate; and Marcos Simard, a student and reservist in the Canadian military, is running for the Liberals.

Saturday, October 18 at 11PM ET / 8PM PT

West Nova, Nova Scotia
Bill Kendrick reports from the Nova Scotia riding of West Nova, where expectations are for another tight finish. In 2006, Liberal Robert Thibault beat Conservative Greg Kerr by only 1.1% of the vote; and the same two candidates are back at it again. The results could be somewhat different this time as the New Democrats have run a strong campaign with George Barron, a paramedic based in Digby. Ronald Mills, an Air Force veteran and Sunday school teacher, is running for the Green Party; and Cindy Nesbitt, an independent candidate is hoping to capitalize on the popularity of another Nova Scotia independent Bill Casey.

Sunday, October 19 at 12AM ET / Saturday, October 18 at 9PM PT

Churchill, Manitoba
Jonathan Craven visits the vast, northern Manitoba riding of Churchill, where a tight race between the NDP and Liberal candidates is expected. In the last federal election, CBC actress-turned Liberal MP Tina Keeper beat NDP candidate Niki Ashton. She brought the riding back into Liberal hands after nearly a decade of New Democrat representation. Ashton, a 26-year-old University College of the North instructor, is taking another run at the seat. In 2006, NDP support was split between Ashton and former NDP MP Bev Desjarlais, who left the party over her same-sex marriage position and ran as an Independent. Newcomers to the race include Wally Daudrich, who is running for the Conservatives, and Green Party candidate Saara Harvie. The candidates also talk about the many challenges of campaigning in an area that is three times the size of England.

Saturday, October 18 at 10PM ET / 7PM PT

Ajax-Pickering, Ontario
Kim Brunhuber visits the riding of Ajax-Pickering, where Liberal incumbent Mark Holland will face a ballot full of candidates trying to take his seat. Former councillor and current Conservative candidate, Rick Johnson, is hoping that his reputation with the community will help his cause. NDP candidate Bala Thavarajasoorier, the Green Party's Mike Harilaid, Libertarian Stephanie Wilson, and CHP candidate Kevin Norng round out the ballot.

Monday, October 20 at 3AM ET / 12AM PT

Cumberland--Colchester--Musquodoboit, Nova Scotia
Bill Casey is one of the longest serving MPs in Ottawa having first been elected as a Progressive Conservative under Brian Mulroney in 1988. Last year however, Casey broke from the party, and sat as independent, over a disagreement with the government's handling of the Atlantic Accord. For the people of Cumberland--Colchester--Musquodoboit, the choice is between voting for the Conservative, Joel Bernard, or for the familiar longtime MP Bill Casey. Tracy Parsons, former leader of the Progressive Canadian Party is running for the Liberals and Karen Olsson is the NDP candidate.

Monday, October 20 at 4AM ET / 1AM PT

Parkdale - High Park, Ontario
In the Liberal Party's last federal leadership race Gerard Kennedy became kingmaker when he threw his support to Stéphane Dion. So will he finally get to be king, at the very least, in his own Toronto riding? In this federal election, the former Ontario Education Minister will have to de-throne the NDP's Peggy Nash. This long-standing activist has been MP in Parkdale - High Park since 2006 and she has swiftly built up a loyal following. This is a riding to watch if you like election drama and a race just too close to call.

Tuesday, October 21 at 2AM ET / Monday, October 20 at 11PM PT

Papineau, Quebec
One of the closest watched ridings in this election is the Montreal riding of Papineau. Formerly held by the Martin Cabinet Minister Pierre Pettigrew, the riding is currently held by Vivian Barbot who surprised many when she took the riding with just over 900 votes. Pettigrew is no longer running, instead the Liberals are counting on the youthful appeal and the name of Justin Trudeau to bring this working class riding back into the Liberal fold. Rounding out the slate of candidates are Mustaque Sarker for the Conservatives and Ingrid Hein from the Green Party.
