Campaign Politics
Ed Watson reports on the riding of
Vancouver Centre, where Liberal incumbent,
Hedy Fry, is facing a stiff challenge from not one, but three strong candidates. The NDP has recruited
Michael Byers, author, academic and human rights lawyer, to run here. BC Liberal MP
Lorne Mayencourt, a well-known community activist, is running for the Conservatives; and
Adriane Carr, a long-time environmentalist and former leader of the BC Green Party, is the Green Party’s candidate. Hedy Fry has held Vancouver Centre since 1993 when she defeated Prime Minister Kim Campbell.
