CURRENT NEWS Wednesday, February 15, 2006 7:35:58 AM Quarterly revenue numbers dimmer for Vancouver lighting developer Vancouver-based LED lighting developer TIR Systems Ltd. (TSX:TIR) was deeper in the red in the first quarter of its current fiscal year, reporting a net loss of $3.7 million compared with a $2.9 million net loss in the same quarter in 2005. The company attributed the increase to lower gross profits and higher operating expenses. Revenue for the quarter was down 28.9 per cent, or $1.6 million, to $4 million compared with revenues of $5.6 million in 2005's first quarter. TIR's shares have been trading between $1.60 and $2 for the past week, which is near the company's 52-week low of $0.92 but off a 52-week high of $3.35.
Interfor sells its B.C. heli-logging operations International Forest Products Ltd. (TSX:IFP-SVA) has sold its wholly-owned heli-logging subsidiary, Helifor Industries Ltd., to a Canadian company associated with Aurora, Oregon-based Columbia Helicopters Inc. The sale, which is worth roughly $4 million, is subject to transport ministry approval, is expected to close by the end of March. Interfor is one of the Pacific Northwest's largest wood products producers. Its operations include four sawmills in coastal B.C., one in the province's Interior, one in Washington and two in Oregon. Company shares during the past week have been trading between $6.80 and $7.05, above a 52-week low of $6.12, but below their 52-week high of $7.94.
