Train derailment in the city
Brandon police say seven cars on a westbound CN train — four of them carrying toxic anhydrous ammonia — derailed just south of the corner of Percy St. and Van Horne Avenue around 2 p.m. There were no injuries, no evacuations and no word of any leaks but police blocked off streets throughout the area and instructed nearby residents to stay indoors. Six schools were also ordered to "shelter in place". See tomorrow's Brandon Sun for full details.
