Safety Tips

DISTRACTED DRIVERS account for approximately 3-million crashes a year in the US.

Crash statistics and behaviour reported by drivers suggest that the six most common distractions listed by order or prevalence, are mostly activities we tend to take for granted such as:

  1. Talking with other passengers
  2. Changing radio stations or looking for  CDs
  3. Making or taking a cell phone call
  4. Dealing with children in the back seat
  5. Reading a map or directions while driving
  6. Engaging in personal grooming

Nearly 30% of the distraction-related crashes involved something outside the vehicles such as looking at crashes, scenery, people, or events.

So our current Safety Tip is - When you are on the road, make safe driving your primary business. Pull over to the side of the road for phone calls and to deal with children in the back seat. Plan your route ahead of time so you know where you are going and wait until you’re stopped at a red light to make adjustments to the radio or change a CD. Have a safe trip.
