Brian Hayward Appointed to the Board of Directors of the Business Development Bank of Canada

OTTAWA, June 25, 2007 — The Honourable Jim Prentice, Minister of Industry and Minister responsible for the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC), today announced the appointment of Mr. Brian Hayward as a member of the Board of Directors.

"Mr. Hayward's senior positions in the private sector, his academic background as well as his service on various community and private sector boards will be of great value in our ongoing support for entrepreneurial success and growth in Canada," said Minister Prentice. "I welcome Mr. Hayward to the Board of the BDC."

Brian Hayward currently serves as President of Aldare Resources, a business consultancy, which he formed in 2007, that provides strategic advisory and governance services in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He also serves on a number of private sector boards, and has been on a number of community boards, such as The Conference Board of Canada and the Royal Winnipeg Ballet.

Mr. Hayward holds a Master of Science degree in Agriculture Economics from McGill University, where he received an award for the best Agriculture Economics Master's Thesis in Canada.
