Food Bank Day Phone Room
This is a busy place from 5:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Check out the action as Telus Community Ambassadors work the phone lines to take your generous donations for B.C. Food Banks.
Ingest & Dubbing Area
English and French TV news tapes, satellite, fibre optic and studio recordings are done here. They are 'ingested' into our digital recording servers on a real time basis. We can ingest up to 10 different feeds at a time. They can be viewed within 15 seconds from any number of workstations and edit suites throughout the newsroom. This is also where we make dubs of our TV programs into many different formats.
Newsroom
Welcome to our integrated newsroom. All of our news services can be found in here: English TV/Radio News, English Radio Current Affairs, French TV/ Radio News and our web services.
Our integrated newsroom allows us to distribute content onto various platforms. This is very important as CBC/Radio-Canada moves forward towards being a content driven broadcasting company and thinking of our news operations as a news gathering operation.
Our integrated assignment desk, with all of our media services in one location, can be found in the centre of the newsroom. News gathering and production workflows are made easier and more efficient with the creation of this common assignment desk. It allows us to collaborate even better and to share information and resources so that we can continue to connect Canadians far and wide with compelling local, national and international stories.
Technical upgrades have also boosted our efficiency with a central server for storing field footage and streamlining the editing and archiving process.
Here's what you'll find on the newsroom tour:
