The CAB is the national voice of Canada’s private broadcasters, representing the vast majority of Canadian programming services, including private radio and television stations, networks, and specialty, pay and pay-per-view services.

The CAB represents broadcasters’ copyright interests before the Copyright Board of Canada, the federal government and where necessary, the courts. Working with the CAB’s copyright and legal advisory committees, the CAB has a three-pronged copyright agenda.

  1. The CAB deals with an on-going array of regulated copyright tariffs that are before the Copyright Board.

  2. The CAB addresses existing and proposed copyright legislation to promote a fair and modern copyright regime that reflects ongoing changes to the media.

  3. The CAB monitors and participates in selective international copyright activities on behalf of its members, notably the World Intellectual Property Organization (“WIPO”) and trade activities.
