The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is responsible for development of
forest policies that prevent the introduction and spread of regulated pests into
Canada and export programs for Canadian forestry
products
CFIA activities include:
developing policy
directives and import requirements
targeting the control of invasive pests and their related commodity pathways of
introduction;
working with sector stakeholders and government partners to develop export programs for Canadian forestry products;
participating in working groups and discussions with national and regional
plant protection agencies, and the International Plant Protection Convention,
to establish phytosanitary and certification standards.
