HEALTH HAZARD ALERT

SUMMERSWEET FINE FOODS RECALLS SEAFOOD MOUSSES AND DIPS BECAUSE THEY MAY CONTAIN LISTERIA MONOCYTOGENES

MONTREAL, April 15, 2011 - Charcuterie La Tour Eiffel is warning the public not to consume Summersweet Fine Foods seafood mousses and dips because the products may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

The manufacturer is voluntarily recalling the following products from the marketplace:

Smoked Salmon & Spinach Mousse
Mousse Smoked Salmon & Spinach
Smoked Salmon & Dill Mousse
Dip Crab & Roasted Red Pepper
Dip Lobster & Shrimp
Smoked Salmon & Roasted Artichoke Dip
Dip Crab & Three Cheese

The products were sold in various sizes at retail locations nationally. Consumers can return any of the products noted above of any size, or with any UPC Code to the store where it was purchased for a full refund.

There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of these products.

Food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes may not look or smell spoiled. Consumption of food contaminated with these bacteria may cause listeriosis, a foodborne illness. Listeriosis can cause high fever, severe headache, neck stiffness and nausea. Pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems are particularly at risk. Infected pregnant women may experience only a mild, flu-like illness, however, infections during pregnancy can lead to premature delivery, infection of the newborn, or even stillbirth.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
