The Strategic Investments in Northern Economic Development (SINED) program is a key contribution program delivered by the Canadian Northern Economic Development Agency (CanNor) in Canada’s three northern territories. It is designed to advance northern economic development and supports job creation, growth and long-term prosperity for Northerners.
SINED is comprised of a suite of programs:
- Targeted Investment Program
- Innovation and Knowledge Fund
- Partnership & Advisory Forums
- Pan-Territorial Fund
SINED focuses on strengthening the driver sectors of the territorial economies, economic diversification and encouraging Northerners’ participation in the economy.
For each territory this means potential federal contributions of $25 million over 5 years for the Targeted Investment Program, the Innovation and Knowledge Fund and the Partnership and Advisory Forums. In addition, a new $5 million Pan-Territorial Fund has been established for projects impacting more than one territory.
