Experienced Police Officer Program

We are currently seeking experienced police officers for vacancies across Canada including Canadian Forces Military Police trained after the year 2000.

We will be accepting applications for the next troop until: July 31, 2013.

The Program

  • A five-week, learning and orientation program for experienced Canadian police officers.
  • Held at the RCMP Training Academy (Depot) in Regina, Saskatchewan.
  • Upon entry into the program, you will be hired at the rank of Constable and appointed a peace officer by a commissioned officer.

Salary

You will be paid a salary while at Depot ranging from $49,680.00 to $80,498.00 depending on your law enforcement experience and training.

You will receive the same competitive benefits as all RCMP police officer.

Pension

Your pension from your municipal police force may be transferable to the RCMP Pension Plan.

Basic Requirements

  • Graduated from a Canadian police training institution and have a minimum of two years Canadian police experience;
  • Must possess the Public Service Language profile requirement of English proficiency at the levels of B-B-B;
  • Must complete the Physical Abilities Requirement Evaluation in 4:00 minutes or less; and,
  • Meet the qualifications and requirements expected of all applicants.

    • Resumés will be reviewed to confirm that all criteria has been included.
    • Candidates that are identified to be further processed will be notified in writing.
  3. Obtain Posting:
    • Through consultation with the RCMPs National Staffing and Personnel office, your posting will be determined prior to attending training.
    • Successful applicants may not be posted to their province of origin.  

The Selection Process

  1. Selection Package
  2. Physical Abilities Requirement Evaluation (PARE)
  3. Lateral entry applicants must complete the PARE in 4:00 minutes or less;
  4. Regular Member Selection Interview;
  5. Pre-Employment Polygraph Interview and Examination;
  6.  Field Investigation and Security Clearance;
  7.  Health Assessment; and
  8.  Hiring and Training.
    • IMPORTANT - Serving police officers must resign from their current police service/agency before they can be hired and attend training.
