Information for Industry and Professionals

Health Canada provides resources about cosmetics for Industry and Professionals, including guides for cosmetic manufacturers, importers and distributors, and professionals. The Requirements for the Sale of Cosmetics in Canada section explains what is required by law for safety, ingredients, notification and labelling. The Cosmetic Ingredient Hotlist lists the ingredients that are prohibited or restricted in cosmetics. Health Canada also provides information on the labelling of cosmetics and on how to notify Health Canada about cosmetic products.

Health Canada's Role

Health Canada's Cosmetics Program works to protect the health of Canadians by reducing the risks of using cosmetics sold in Canada. We provide tools to help Canadians protect themselves, like Information for Consumers on Cosmetics and Personal Care Products, and tools for Canadians to report adverse reactions to cosmetics to Health Canada.
