The Honourable Shelly Glover was appointed Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages on July 15, 2013. She is the Member of Parliament for Saint Boniface in Winnipeg, Manitoba, where she was first elected in 2008.

She was named Parliamentary Secretary for Official Languages in November 2008. In August 2010, she was named Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development. In January 2011, she was named Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Finance.

Until her election, Mrs. Glover served as a member of the Winnipeg Police Service for almost 19 years. She had a diverse career in a variety of positions, and she was the first female and bilingual spokesperson ever appointed by her department.

Mrs. Glover is a bilingual Anglophone who participated in the very first French Immersion program west of Ontario. She continued her education at the University of Winnipeg where she studied Justice and Law Enforcement.

Mrs. Glover is a proud Métis woman who has been a very active community member with several non-profit organizations and has been an advocate for victims of crime, women and children.

Mrs. Glover is an avid sports fan who coached youth soccer for approximately 14 years. She played soccer with a women`s Masters team and sponsored a first ever Métis women's soccer team to promote health and wellness in her community. Mrs. Glover participates in many fundraising events including rowing with a dragon boat team for cancer research every year.

Mrs. Glover is married and has raised five children with her husband Bruce.
