Export and Import Controls

The Trade Controls & Technical Barriers Bureau (TCTBB) is responsible for administering the Export and Import Permits Act (EIPA) which was first enacted in 1947. The EIPA delegates to the Minister of Foreign Affairs wide discretionary powers to control the flow of goods contained in specified lists provided for under the Act. 

Highlights

  • The purpose of this message is to inform you that the 2013-2014 Wheat Products tariff rate quota will be filled as of 11:59 p.m local time on October 25, 2013, and that the within access commitment tariff items will be closed at that time.

  • In August 2009, President Obama launched a comprehensive, inter-agency review to the US export control system. This exercise represents one of the most significant reforms to the US export control regime in the past 40 years.

  • The purpose of this message is to inform you that the 2013-14 Barley Products tariff rate quota will be filled as of 11:59 pm local time on October 11, 2013, and that the within access commitment tariff items will be closed at that time.

  • Please note that changes have been made to the forms used to apply for allocations under tariff rate quotas and export quotas, supplemental import authorizations, allocation transfers, and permit cancellations.
