Royal Military College Saint-Jean

Royal Military College Saint-Jean (RMC Saint-Jean) integrates, evaluates and develops its officer cadets for successful careers as commissioned officers in the Canadian Armed Forces by means of its academic, leadership, sports and bilingualism programmes.

RMC Saint-Jean ensures officer cadets a seamless transition from high school to university by providing college-level and first-year university programmes in Science and Social Sciences. Each programme is offered in the first official language of the candidate and includes the Preparatory Year and First Year.

Preparatory Year

The preparatory year is equivalent to grade 12 in most provinces and to the first year of college-level studies (CEGEP) in Quebec. This academic year is designed for Quebec high-school graduates and for students from across Canada who demonstrate strong academic ability but are missing prerequisites for direct admission to first year. Following successful completion of preparatory year, students typically begin their undergraduate degree at RMC Saint-Jean.

First Year

This academic year is designed to provide the same university-level programs offered at Royal Military College of Canada (RMCC) in Kingston, Ontario. Students who meet the prerequisites may be given the opportunity to complete first year at RMC Saint-Jean without the need to attend preparatory year. Students who complete first year at RMC Saint-Jean continue toward an undergraduate degree beginning in the second year at RMCC. Upon completion of two years of study, students who meet all the requirements of the Quebec Department of Education receive a diploma of college studies.
