Fishing Licence Loan Program 

Applies only to: Nova Scotia

To enter the commercial fishery or diversify to a new species, you can apply for a loan to buy a licence and associated gear, or to use as a deposit on a licence package.

To apply you must:

• Be a Canadian citizen or a registered Nova Scotia business in good standing
• Have a Fishing Masters Class certificate or five years' captain experience
• Meet Department of Fisheries and Oceans eligibility requirements as a new entrant

A five-year business plan and a deposit are required when you apply.
