Statement — Minister Kenney issues statement marking the celebration of Easter

Ottawa, March 31, 2013 —The Honourable Jason Kenney, Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism, issued the following statement marking the celebration of Easter:

“Holy Week and Eastertide are a time of profound solemnity and joy to Christians in Canada and around the world.

“One of the oldest and holiest holidays of the Christian faith, Easter celebrates Jesus Christ’s Resurrection from the dead, giving Christians hope for eternal life and, by the grace of God, the constant renewal of the world.

“Easter is also a time of reflection, rebirth and rejuvenation, as the seasons change from winter to spring.

“For all Canadians, Easter provides an opportunity to reflect on the tremendous contributions that Christians have made to this country’s rich and diverse heritage through over 400 years of history.

“As Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism, on this Easter Sunday, I extend my warmest wishes for a happy holiday to everyone celebrating this Easter season.”
