AANDC is working with the Province of Saskatchewan, Public Safety Canada, Health Canada, the RCMP and other relevant agencies to ensure First Nations are prepared for potential flooding this spring. Specifically, AANDC works with First Nations vulnerable to flooding to determine their needs, develop work plans and fund preparedness measures.

The following table provides information on flood preparedness support in Saskatchewan First Nations.

Carry The Kettle First Nation $ 43,200 Roads repairs, clearing and repair of culverts and excess snow removal.
Cowessess First Nation $ 52,500 Clearing of impacted drainage culverts, beaver dam removal and snow removal.
Day Star First Nation $ 30,000 Installation of 5 drainage culverts to improve drainage.
Fishing Lake First Nation $ 106,500 Drainage works to improve surface drainage and increase road elevations in low lying areas.
Kawacatoose First Nation $ 350,000 Culvert replacement, increase of road elevations as well as high capacity drainage pumps, and associated piping.
Little Black Bear First Nation $ 50,000 Road repairs, installation of up to 6 culverts and clearing of impacted culverts and drainage pathways.
Muscowpetung First Nation $ 60,000 Snow removal and clearing of impacted culverts and drainage pathways.
Muskowekwan First Nation $ 30,000 Road repair and elevation to prevent overtopping.
Nekaneet First Nation $ 55,650 Excess snow removal, regarding of homes to ensure positive drainage.
Okanese First Nation $ 50,000 Road repairs, installation of up to 6 culverts and clearing of impacted culverts and drainage pathways.
Pasqua First Nation $ 129,600 Sump pump replacements, snow removal and clearing of impacted culverts and drainage pathways.
Peepeekisis First Nation $ 50,000 Road repairs, installation of up to 6 culverts and clearing of impacted culverts and drainage pathways.
Red Earth First Nation $ 23,600 Clearing of impacted drainage culverts to ensure proper drainage.
Star Blanket First Nation $ 50,000 Road repairs, installation of up to 6 culverts and clearing of impacted culverts and drainage pathways.
Saskatchewan Watershed Authority $  1,100,000 Equipment and supplies: steamers, sandbags, pump, hoses, generators to keep water moving, etc. These supplies are ready to use and are currently being dispatched to the communities as requested.
