Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami (ITK) is the national Inuit organization in Canada, representing four Inuit regions – Nunatsiavut (Labrador), Nunavik (northern Quebec), Nunavut, and the Inuvialuit Settlement Region in the Northwest Territories.

Burt Awards

Congratulations to the finalists of the inaugural Burt Awards for First Nations, Metis and Inuit Literature! The award was created by the Canadian Organization for Development through Education (CODE), in collaboration with Aboriginal organizations including ITK.

The winner will be announced during a gala event at the Canadian Museum of Civilization in Gatineau, Quebec, on October 2. First prize is $12,000, second prize is $8,000 and third prize is $5,000. In addition, CODE will purchase a minimum of 2,500 copies of each title for distribution to schools, libraries and Friendship Centres that serve First Nation, Metis and Inuit youth.

2012-2013 Annual Report

At its Annual General Meeting held September 17, 2013 in Hopedale, Nunatsiavut, we released  the 2012-2013 annual report.

The Annual Report is a summary of all our major activities for the period of April 1st 2012 to March 31st 2013.

New in 2013 is a section on the Amaujaq National Centre for Inuit Education.

The audited 2012 - 2013 Financial Statements are also available.
