Canada Pavilion, Award Winner!

The Canada Pavilion was the recipient of the Wood WORKS! BC Western Red Cedar Award at the 7th annual Wood Design Awards held in Vancouver on March 14, 2011.

This award recognizes the innovative use of red cedar in the construction of the Canada Pavilion in Shanghai. The exterior of the Pavilion was made of 4,000 m2 of Canadian red cedar.

The Canada Pavilion design was created to reflect Canadian values of inclusivity, sustainability, and creativity. This three-story structure was imagined and designed by Cirque du Soleil for the Government of Canada. The Pavilion was built by Canadian firm SNC-Lavalin Inc.

The Canada Pavilion at Expo 2010 Shanghai closed its doors on October 31, 2010 after having welcomed and entertained more than 6.4 million visitors.
