The Government is committed to ensuring that readers everywhere have opportunities to connect with a broad range of Canadian-authored books. To further this objective, Canadian Heritage is responsible for three key policy measures:

These measures are designed to foster the vitality of the book industry in Canada, given the importance of this industry’s role in bringing Canadian authors to market in Canada and internationally.

A fourth measure, the National Translation Program for Book Publishing, is administered by the Canada Council for the Arts through its Translation Grants program as part of the Government’s Roadmap for Canada’s Linguistic Duality 2008-2013.
