First Nations Organizations

AANDC provides a range of programs and services to individual First Nations and First Nation organizations.  Our programs are focussed on supporting First Nations core governance, professional development and maintenance of community infrastructure.

Band Support Funding Program
We provide stable funding to First Nations to support governance and delivery of core services. 

Band Employee Benefits Program
This program provides funding to First Nation employers to help with the cost of employer contributions to pension plans.

Professional and Institutional Development Program
We help First Nation governments support employee skill development and build more effective and efficient governments.  Program funding is focussed on ten core governance areas.

Tribal Council Funding Program
We provide tribal council funding to help eligible organizations to deliver programs and services and provide advice to their First Nation members.

Basic Organizations Capacity
This program provides funding to the Council of Yukon First Nations for core administrative functions.

Governance Transition Center Funding
We provide funding to the Self-Government Secretariat, a department of the Council of Yukon First Nations.  The Self-Government Secretariat undertakes projects of common interest to self-governing Yukon First Nations related to land claim and self-government implementation.

Economic Development Funding
We provide economic development programs to Daylu Dena Council, Dease River First Nation and Taku River Tlingit.

Lands Program
We provide advice, service and support to both self-governing Yukon First Nations and Indian Act First Nations on various land related matters.

Capital Infrastructure Projects
We provide funding and advice to help Yukon and Northern B.C. Indian Act First Nations deliver and maintain community infrastructure (housing, education buildings, water and wastewater, roads etc).

Water and Wastewater Projects
We provide funding for First Nation water and wastewater projects. Our programs and activities include the First Nations Water and Wastewater Action Plan, capacity and training support, and the National Assessment of Water and Wastewater Systems in First Nation Communities.

Lands and Environmental Action Fund (LEAF)
We provide funding to First Nation projects that promote best environmental practices and build skills or tools related to environmental management.
