Who can apply under the Targeted Engagement Grant Program?

Individuals and security and defence organizations, such as think tanks, universities, or non-governmental organizations are eligible to apply for the DEP Targeted Engagement Grant Program.

What can Targeted Engagement Grant Program funds be used for?

Targeted Engagement Grant Program funds can be used to support a variety of projects such as conferences, workshops, roundtables, and topical scholarly projects resulting in papers, presentations, briefings, and publications.

How are DND/CF engagement priorities established?

Engagement priorities are established and reviewed annually by the Defence Team Steering Committee (DTSC) - a core group of representatives from the Defence Team representing diverse interests within the Department.

My project does not fall within DND engagement priorities. Are there other Government of Canada funding opportunities?

When should applications be submitted?

For 2013-2014, applications under the Targeted Engagement Grant Program and the Scholarship and Fellowship Awards Program must be submitted by June 20, 2013.

How will applications be assessed?

Applicants will be assessed by the DTSC on the relevance of their application to DND/CF engagement priorities and on the proposed project's ability to inform, confirm, or challenge current and future defence policy thinking. Several other factors may be taken into consideration, including: its international perspective; its historical perspective; and, whether or not it takes a multi-disciplinary approach.
